NIMS Awards National Accreditation to Lansdale (PA) Precision Machine Trades Program
Keeping up with today’s standards, North Montco Technical Career Center has renewed the national accreditation of its Precision Machine Trades Program. Maintaining national industry standards inside the classroom is no easy task but as of February 11, 2016 the nearly fifty year old program once again rose to the challenge.
NIMS accreditation is the only national benchmark to recognize excellence in metalworking training as based on national industry-written, industry-approved standards. By securing this national award, the center demonstrates its continued commitment to providing industry-level training within the state of Pennsylvania and for the greater U.S. Manufacturing Industry.
NIMS Evaluator Norm MacIntyre conducted an official evaluation at the career center in January 1016 and was greatly impressed with the Precision Machine Trades Program, issuing above-average and excellent ratings in all eight areas of the evaluation:
- Program Purpose
- Facilities
- Equipment, Tooling, and Measuring Devices
- Program Features
- Administration and Management
- Instructional Staff
- Student Credentials
- Program Advisory Committee
Included in his overall praise for the program, veteran evaluator MacIntyre noted the strong support from local industry and school administration (led by Curriculum Specialist Bob Lacivita), as well as the exceptional leadership of Instructor Frank Torrente that add up to make this an “exemplary program.”
North Montco Technical Career Center serves Bucks, Montgomery, and Northern Berks Counties in the greater Philadelphia region. This accreditation focuses on skills from the NIMS Machining Level I National Standard which includes CNC operations as well as a variety of manual machining skills competencies.
