Guilford County, NC Secondary Programs Renew NIMS Accreditation
Keeping pace with today’s metalworking industry standards, the Metals Manufacturing Technology Programs at High Point Central High School (High Point, NC) and Weaver Academy (Greensboro, NC) have each renewed their NIMS accreditation as of January 12, 2015. With these accreditations, High Point and Weaver reaffirm their rolling commitment to uphold national industry standards as set forth by NIMS, further enabling these Guilford County schools to support the needs of students, their local communities and employers within it, and to the metalworking industry at large.
A renewal review kicked off in 2013 and culminated in an On-Site Evaluation occurring at each school in the summer of 2014. These comprehensive evaluations were conducted by NIMS Lead Evaluator Mike Davis, Sr., who was pleased with both programs, issuing average and above-average ratings for all areas that come under review during the evaluation.
The accreditation of each of these Guilford County secondary programs focuses on skills from the NIMS Machining Level I National Standard, with an emphasis on manual milling and drill press skills. Both programs have successfully maintained NIMS accreditation since 2008.
