Asnuntuck Community College Renews Accreditation
Keeping up with today’s standards, Asnuntuck Community College (ACC) has renewed the NIMS Accreditation of their Machine Technology Program as of July 18, 2014. This is the second time the college program has established itself as a NIMS-Accredited training source, as this benchmark was first achieved in 2007. ACC is applauded for its continued commitment to meeting local employment needs, while maintaining national industry standards for machinist skills training.
Following a rigorous On Site Evaluation in early July 2014 at the college’s Enfield facility, NIMS Evaluator Marty Arsenault was greatly impressed with the Machine Technology Program and issued high ratings in the eight areas of evaluation:
- Program Purpose
- Facilities
- Equipment, Tooling, and Measuring Devices
- Program Features
- Administration and Management
- Instructional Staff
- Student Credentials
- Program Advisory Committee
Founder and President of Howard Tool Company in Bangor, ME, Arsenault described the program as one of the best he has seen in nearly ten years of serving as a NIMS Evaluator.
“Programs should look at this program as a model for future programs,” Arsenault commented in his post-evaluation report. Asnuntuck’s accreditation focuses on skills from the NIMS Machining Level I National Standard which includes CNC operations, programming, and setup, as well as a variety of competencies covering manual machining skills.
Congratulations and many thanks to the college faculty and staff who were integral in this accreditation renewal, especially Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center Director Frank D. Gulluni and to Coordinator Ray Jarvis.
