Accreditation Renewed at Greater Lowell Technical High School
We are pleased to announce that for the second time since 2005, the Machine Technology Program at Greater Lowell Technical High School (Tyngsboro, MA) has been awarded NIMS Accreditation for excellence in metalworking training. By maintaining their status as a NIMS-accredited program, the staff and faculty at Greater Lowell have proven continued commitment to maintaining high standards for metalworking training in the state of Massachusetts and for the greater industry in the United States.
Led by NIMS Team Leader Marty Arsenault, a one-day On-Site Evaluation occurred at the high school's facility on December 12, 2012 which concluded with Mr. Arsenault's recommendation to officially renew the training program's accreditation. Combined with evidence of the program's continuous efforts to credential students, NIMS officially renewed the accreditation on January 25, 2013. In his final evaluation report, Mr. Arsenault noted that "this is the best program I have had the privilege to be involved in on," and he gave the program high ratings in all eight evaluation areas (Purpose, Facilities, Equipment/Tooling/Measuring Devices, Program Features, Administration, Faculty, Student Credentialing, and Advisory Committee).
This program is accredited in the following skills areas:
- Measurement, Materials & Safety
- Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout
- Turning
- CNC Turning: Programming, Setup & Operations
Congratulations to everyone involved in this process, especially Instructor John Brunelle for his efforts towards the accreditation renewal process and to maintaining high standards in training overall. Special thanks to Marty Arsenault for leading this evaluation.
