Accreditation Renewed at Midlands Technical College
We are pleased to announce that for the second time since 2007, the Machine Tool Technology Program at Midlands Technical College) is awarded with NIMS Accreditation for excellence in metalworking training. By maintaining their status as a NIMS-accredited program, the staff and faculty at Midlands Tech have proven continued commitment to maintaining high standards for metalworking training in the state of South Carolina and for the greater industry in the United States.
Led by NIMS Team Leader Mike Davis, a one-day On-Site Evaluation occurred at the college on March 4, 2013 which concluded with Mr. Davis's recommendation to officially renew the training program's accreditation. In his final evaluation report, Mr. Davis gave the program high ratings in several evaluation areas, including Purpose, Equipment/Tooling/Measuring Devices, and Administration. Combined with evidence of the program's continuous efforts to credential students with NIMS national skills certifications, the accreditation at Midlands Technical College was officially renewed as of July 22, 2013.
This program is accredited NIMS Machining Level I Standards, with an emphasis in the following skills areas:
- Measurement, Materials & Safety
- Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout
- Milling I
- Drill Press I
- Grinding I
- Turning Operations: Turning Between Centers
- Turning Operations: Chucking Skills
- CNC Milling: Programming, Setup & Operations
- CNC Turning: Programming, Setup & Operations
