Accreditation Renewed at Carbon Career & Technical Institute
We are pleased to announce that for the second time since 2006, the Precision Machine Technology Program at Carbon Career & Technical Institute (Jim Thorpe, PA) has been awarded NIMS Accreditation for excellence in metalworking training. By maintaining their status as a NIMS-accredited program, the staff and faculty at Carbon CTI have proven continued commitment to maintaining high standards for metalworking training in the state of Pennsylvania and for the greater industry in the United States.
Led by NIMS Team Leader Gary Deeter, a one-day On-Site Evaluation occurred at the institute on April 10, 2013 which concluded with Mr. Deeter's recommendation to officially renew the training program's accreditation. Combined with evidence of the program's continuous efforts to credential students, NIMS officially renewed the accreditation on June 21, 2013.
In his final evaluation report, Mr. Deeter gave the program high ratings in most evaluation areas, including Purpose, Equipment/Tooling/Measuring Devices, Program Features, Administration, Faculty, Student Credentialing, and Advisory Committee.
This program is accredited NIMS Machining Level I Standards, with an emphasis in the following skills areas:
- Measurement, Materials & Safety
- Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout
- Milling I
- Drill Press I
- Turning Operations: Turning Between Centers
Congratulations to everyone involved in this process, especially Instructor Kevin Kuehner for his efforts towards the renewal process and to maintaining high standards in training overall. Special thanks to Gary Deeter for leading this evaluation.
