Accreditation Renewed at Calhoun County Career Technical Center
Keeping up with today’s standards, Calhoun County Career Technical Center (Jacksonville, AL) has renewed the NIMS Accreditation of their Precision Machining Technology Program as of Tuesday, June 4, 2013. This is the school’s third time establishing itself as a NIMS-Accredited training provider, as it first set this benchmark in 2003 and again in 2008. NIMS applauds Calhoun County Career Technical Center for its continued commitment to meeting National Industry Standards for metalworking skills training in Alabama.
In May 2013, NIMS Wes Ellis (Alabama Technology Network) conducted a rigorous On-Site Evaluation at the facility in Jacksonville. Highly complementary of the program, in his evaluation Wes noted that the program has a positive future under the leadership of its new instructor, Jonathon Williams. He gave the program high ratings in several evaluation areas, including Program Purpose, Program Facilities, Program Features, Administration Support, and Instructional Staff.
This accreditation is in Level I Machining Skills, with an emphasis on:
- Measurement, Materials & Safety
- Job Planning, Benchwork, & Layout
- Milling I (manual)
- Turning Operations: Turning Chucking Skills
Congratulations to everyone involved in this accreditation renewal, especially PMT Instructor Jonathon Williams and Center Director Wayne Smart. Special thanks also to NIMS evaluator Wes Ellis for conducting the on-site visit! To learn more about this program, please contact Mr. Williams by email or by phone at (256) 435-4221.
