This championship is the culmination of local, regional, and state competitions that at nearly 1,500 technical high schools and colleges across the United States. Winners from state SkillsUSA contests will compete against each other and against the clock to create metal parts using these skills:
- Manual Turning
- Manual Lathe
- CNC Lathe Programming & Operations
- CNC Mill Programming & Operations
Finalists also compete in categories that do not require machine time:
- Quality & Parts Inspection
- Machining Technology Knowledge Exam
- GD&T Knowledge Exam
- Soft Skills
All part prints and knowledge exams are based on NIMS National Standards for Machining Level I and Level II.
