Accreditation Renewed at Northern Westmoreland Career & Technology Center
Keeping up with today’s industry skills standards, Northern Westmoreland Career & Technology Center of New Kensington, PA has renewed the NIMS Accreditation of its Machine Tool Technology Program as of Thursday, November 1, 2012. This is the second instance of NWCTC earning the accredited title, as this benchmark was first set in 2007. We applaud the commitment of the faculty and staff as they continue to meet NIMS Standards for metalworking training.
NIMS Evaluation Team Leader Gregory Chambers (of Oberg Industries) visited the training center earlier this year and gave the program high ratings in evaluation areas of program purpose, inventory/equipment, program features, administration support, instructional staff, and student credentialing activity, while also noting the program's exceptionally active advisory committee. More than sixty students have taken NIMS tests and a total of 215 NIMS credentials have been issued to these secondary students to date!
Congratulations to everyone involved in this accreditation renewal, especially Instructor Joseph Tammariello and Business Industry Liaison Jill Awes! Special thanks to Gregory Chambers for conducting the on-site evaluation!
