Accreditation Renewed at Hazleton Area Career Center
We are pleased to announce that for the second time since 2004, the Precision Machine Technology Program at the Hazleton Area Career Center (HACC) of Hazleton, PA has been awarded NIMS Accreditation for excellence in metalworking training. By maintaining their status as a NIMS-accredited program, the staff and faculty at HACC have proven continued commitment to maintaining high standards for metalworking training in the state of Pennsylvania and for the greater industry in the United States.
Led by NIMS Team Leader Kurt Heinly of Teleflex Medical, a one-day On-Site Evaluation occurred at the career center on May 18, 2012 which concluded with Mr. Heinly's recommendation to officially renew the training program's accreditation. Combined with evidence of the program's continuous efforts to credential students, NIMS officially renewed the Accreditation as of June 11, 2012.
In his final evaluation report Mr. Heinly noted the program’s strongest points:
“The program is fundamentally sound. The facility and materials are adequate to support the program's goals and NIMS credentials. Instructor Chicalese has encouraged work ethic by bringing graduates back to talk to the students, facilitating field trips and implementing a weekly 'shop foreman' who is responsible for minor issues that may arise."
Congratulations to everyone involved in this process, especially Jennifer Curcio and Joseph Chicalese for their dedication to high standards and the accreditation renewal process. Special thanks to Kurt Heinly for leading this evaluation.
