NIMS is pleased to announce the official accreditation of Palm Beach State College’s Machining Technology PSAV Program!  Located in Lake Worth, Florida, this is the second NIMS-Accredited program in the state of Florida.  The accreditation is in Machining Level I and II, with a focus on CNC skills.

The Machining Technology Program applied for accreditation in August 2010 and since then the College’s the staff and faculty have taken action to ensure their curriculum meets NIMS standards and includes NIMS credentialing opportunities for students.   Program instructors have each earned CNC credentials through NIMS and we expect the College will continue setting the bar for exceptional metalworking training for post-secondary students and adults in the state of Florida.

On March 14 and 15, a NIMS On-Site Evaluation Team traveled to Lake Worth to conduct a two-day audit of the program and its facility.  Leading the Team was NIMS Interim Director James Wall, Industry Representative Bob Skodzinsky (of Haas HTEC Network and a member of the NIMS Board of Directors) and Education Representative Roger Rowan of nearby Daytona State College.  The Evaluation Team had high praise for the program’s clearly stated goals and mission, their clean, well-organized facility and collection of tooling and measuring devices, as well as an outstanding faculty, advisory committee, and continued support from the College administration.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this process, especially Palm Beach State College’s Instructors: Andrew Geppert, Robert Jennings, and Joe Brewster, as well as Associate Dean Eric Kennedy!   Special thanks also go to the Evaluation Team, without which this would not be possible!
